DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking an experienced and motivated attorney to join our team. Responsibilities will include determining obligations under our policies of insurance; supervising litigation against our insureds and against the Company; and exercising settlement authority in certain types of claims litigation. The person in this position will work with outside counsel and the claims associates in reaching the appropriate disposition of litigated matters. This person may also provide legal services with regard to other general corporate matters.

Desired Skills & Experience: Law degree from accredited J.D. program and license to practice law. The applicant should have outstanding analytical and communication skills, and the ability to think strategically. Successful candidates will be able to manage legal risks against business interests in complex and ambiguous situations. This person should be able to work efficiently and meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Skills necessary include the ability to prioritize workflow; adjust to frequent workload fluctuations; work independently while also being a strong collaborator; and interface with a variety of personalities across diverse internal groups, teams, divisions, and cultures. Previous legal experience preferred, especially in the area of tort or insurance law. 

We offer a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities. After initial training in-person, this specific role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.
