Kimberlee A. Hillock worked as a research attorney and judicial clerk for the Honorable Donald S. Owens of the Michigan Court of Appeals, and as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Chief Justice Clifford W. Taylor of the Michigan Supreme Court.

Successful Outcomes

Ms. Hillock has achieved appellate wins for clients more than 60 times in both the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court in areas such as premises liability, negligence, insurance coverage, no-fault, tax, probate, family law, child custody, and equine liability. Her most notable successes have included Spectrum Health Hosp v Farm Bureau Mut Ins Co, 492 Mich 503; 821 NW2d 117 (2012), and Admire v Auto-Owners Ins Co, 494 Mich 10; 831 NW2d 849 (2013). She has more than 13 years’ experience in appellate matters and is a member of the Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society Advocates Guild.

Publications and Editing

Ms. Hillock is a former associate editor of and regular contributor to the Michigan Defense Quarterly, and is a current member of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel’s Amicus Committee. Most recently, Ms. Hillock participated in the 2016 Michigan Appellate Bench Bar Planning Committee; she drafted session materials and acted as a moderator for various sessions.

Military Background

Ms. Hillock is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and she served during Operation Desert Storm. She is a member of the American Legion and the Marine Corps League. She currently volunteers as a Veteran Mentor in the Ingham and Eaton County Veteran’s Treatment Courts.
