Peter L. Dunlap

Past President Questionnaire

1. What do you remember most about your MDTC Presidency?

I enjoyed the people I worked with from staff to fellow Board members. Like most presidents of any organization, I was apprehensive about the time commitments involved and Hohhot those duties would mesh with my active law practice. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the people around me made that concern a non issue.

2. Which past president(s) influenced you the most or made the biggest impact on your involvement in MDTC?

All of them! It goes without saying that the "shadow President" of MDTC is Madelyn Lawry without whom we all would have failed miserably. I worked most closely with Terry Miglio as his Vice President and Robert Schaffer, Vice President during my term. Their energy, good humor, judgement and advice was invaluable to me. I will always be great full to each of them. They were tremendous.

3. What have you enjoyed most about your involvement in MDTC?

The friendships I made, especially with people statewide that I otherwise would not have met. The opportunity for practical law practice related learning, plus the fun we had along the way usually over a beer (or three) was a bonus. My first exposure to MDTC was at a seminar at Shanty Creek shortly after the organization was created. That hooked me and I am still attending many years later..

4. What are you doing now?

My practice is focused completely on mediation and arbitration operating as Peter L. Dunlap P. C. I take matters statewide but usually in the Lansing area where I practiced as a trial lawyer. Thanks to my daughter, I have a website if anyone is interested. It's been a great run!
