Samantha Jones

Legislative Liaison

Samantha Jones currently works at the House Republican Policy Office in the Michigan House of Representatives. She joined the policy office in February 2006. She staffs the House committees on Local Government and Urban Policy; Government Operations; House Oversight, Elections, and Ethics; Employment, Training, and Safety; and General Government Appropriations. Samantha grew up in a small town of 400 people in northern West Virginia. She received her J.D. in 2003 from West Virginia University. She visited at Baylor University College of Law in Waco, TX during her third year of law school. She clerked at Smith & Carlson Law Firm in Killeen, TX during that time. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from West Virginia University in 2000. While at WVU, she was a member of the Policy Debate team and studied abroad in Bamberg, Germany. She previously worked as the Executive Assistant to the Mayor of Norfolk, Virginia. While in Virginia she volunteered for the Norfolk SPCA Animal Shelter and did extensive homeless outreach. She currently resides in Okemos, MI, and in her spare time she enjoys reading, yoga, traveling and movies. E-mail
